Reporting Conflict (series): Ukraine war raises ethical challenges for newsrooms

As part of an ongoing series on reporting conflict for the Ethical Journalism Network, James Ball argues that all conflicts raise serious ethical issues for newsrooms and the big challenge in Ukraine is to be savvy about how Russia and Ukraine might exploit accurate (or at least ‘reportable’) information and deciding how much to adjust our working practices to suit that. With the potential for the conflict to escalate even further, the difficulties of reporting the stories raised by this war ethically, accurately and safely are manifold.
