Hosted by the Photography Ethics Centre and the Ethical Journalism Network, this online panel event explores the photographic representation of Afghanistan, and the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, over the last twenty years. With the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan and the subsequent Taliban takeover, images of Afghanistan have again proliferated in the media. This rise in media attention presents an opportunity for reflection about how Afghanistan has been portrayed since the start of the so-called War on Terror. It also raises ethical questions about how photographers represent Afghanistan today.
