
This course will guide you on how to integrate sources responsibly into the journalistic production of a media outlet.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and check the credibility of sources to ensure that their information is reliable
- Check facts and corroborate sources to ensure accuracy of information
- Describe the issues involved in protecting the privacy of sources
- Describe the challenges of anonymizing sources
- Understand the potential risks to vulnerable sources (such as children, trauma victims or refugees) and identify how to avoid harming them in the course of journalistic work.
- Understand the potential conflicts of interest that can arise when working with sources, and learn how to avoid them while maintaining journalistic integrity and independence.
- Understand the importance of being transparent with the public about sources and reporting methods to promote accountability and credibility
