Journalism Trust Initiative partners with the European Broadcasting Union to promote trustworthy journalism via YEP News

JTI-certified media will have access to news aggregator YEP News and its AI-assisted translation and syndication solutions. This partnership offers European Public services media and JTI-certified media a platform to licence content from reliable news sources and expand their reach beyond their geographical and language borders to explore new audiences.

In response to a fragmented media landscape and changing consumption habits, AISBL-EBU UER (also known as European Broadcasting Union, or EBU) launched news aggregator YEP News in March 2025. The platform delivers curated, reliable content tailored to the way people consume news today, in an effort to transform how audiences engage with journalism. Eleven public service media organisations currently contribute to YEP News, with more expected to join.

As an ISO-type standard, Journalism Trust Initiative is a determining landmark to broaden the scope of YEP News beyond European public service media while ensuring the reliability of additional news sources to join the service. JTI-certified newsrooms based in the European Union will be able to share their news content and have it translated and published by other YEP partners. The service is offered in five of the most widely spoken languages in Europe (English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish).

Initiated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) together with 130 news organizations – EBU included, JTI is an ISO-type standard conceived by and for news organisations to allow them to certify their editorial processes, transparency, ethics and responsibility policies through a trusted third-party.
